Terms of Use
Version 1.2 — 30 July 2026
These terms govern your use of the Kanap app and website. By creating an account, you accept them, together with our privacy policy and our community guidelines.
1. The service
Kanap is a free film and series recommendation service. It lets you receive personalised suggestions, rate and review what you have watched, keep a watchlist, follow friends and curators, record short video reviews, import your viewing history from certain streaming platforms, and use the app on both phone and TV.
Recommendations are suggestions, produced automatically from your activity and that of the community. They are neither advice, nor a guarantee of quality, nor a guarantee that a title is available on a given platform: availability data comes from third parties and can change at any time.
2. Your account
- Creating an account requires accurate information (first name, last name, email address, phone number). You agree to keep it up to date.
- You must be at least 15 years old. Below that age, registration requires the authorisation of a parent or legal guardian.
- Your account is personal. You are responsible for keeping your credentials confidential and for actions taken from your account.
- You can delete your account at any time from the app (Settings → Delete my account). Your account, your content and your video reviews are then deleted, with no way to restore them. Some residual technical data is erased or anonymised afterwards.
3. What you post
Your ratings, reviews, lists, video reviews, profile picture and any other content you post remain yours. You grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free and revocable licence to host, display and deliver them to the people you intend them for, solely to operate the service — including, for content you have chosen to make public, displaying it to other users and in the share cards generated from the app.
This licence ends when you remove the content or delete your account, subject to copies already shared by other users and to technical backups for the duration of their rotation.
You confirm that you hold the necessary rights in what you post, and that your content does not infringe the rights of others — in particular, for a video review, that you are not filming anyone without their consent and are not embedding protected works.
4. Rules of use
Our community guidelines set out what is expected and what is prohibited. In short: no harassment, no hate, no illegal content, no impersonation, no spam. You also agree not to disrupt the service, not to attempt to access data not intended for you, and not to extract the service's content at scale by automated means.
5. Third-party content
Posters, images and metadata for titles come from third-party databases; creator videos are played from the platforms where they were published. Kanap neither hosts nor authors them. See our legal notice, which also describes the removal procedure available to rights holders.
6. Personal data
How we process your data is described in the privacy policy, which forms an integral part of these terms.
7. Availability and changes
The service is provided as is, with no guarantee of continuous availability. We may change it, modify or withdraw features, and interrupt it for maintenance. We do our best to keep any disruption to a minimum.
8. Suspension and termination
We may remove content, restrict access to a feature, suspend or delete an account in the event of a breach of these terms or of the community guidelines, or of any use likely to harm other users or the service. Except in urgent cases or where the law requires otherwise, we inform you of the measure and its reason, and you may contest it by writing to us.
9. Liability
Kanap is not responsible for content posted by its users, nor for the content of third-party services reachable from the app. We are not liable for indirect damages. Nothing in these terms limits the rights the law grants you as a consumer, nor our liability in the event of gross negligence or wilful misconduct.
10. Changes to these terms
These terms may be amended. Every new version carries a number and a date, shown at the top of this page, so you can tell that they have changed. Continuing to use the service after they take effect constitutes acceptance.
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by French law. In the event of a dispute, you may first contact us to seek an amicable solution, then refer the matter to a consumer mediator. Failing agreement, the competent courts are those designated by the applicable rules.
12. Contact
